Perspective students
Graduate students: The Department of Geography at Rutgers University is accepting applications for PhD students.
I am recruiting one PhD student to start in Fall 2027 to work at the intersection of global change biology, spatial ecology, and ecological modeling. Potential research directions include:
Climate change impacts on species distributions, including how multiple dimensions of climate and environmental change shape species vulnerability, redistribution, and conservation priorities;
Development and application of spatial, statistical, and machine-learning approaches for understanding ecological responses to global environmental change.
I am particularly interested in students who enjoy asking ecological questions at broad spatial and temporal scales and working with large geospatial and biodiversity datasets. Experience with R or Python, GIS, remote sensing, ecological modeling, or quantitative methods would be valuable, but applicants do not need to have expertise in all of these areas.
Students will have flexibility to develop their own research questions within these broader themes.
